Wegmans Food Markets has voluntarily recalled all sizes of Wegmans Food You Feel Good About Spring Water. Wegmans' decision to recall the products was made after they received test results on the level of bromate in the bottled product. The Food and Drug Administration has set 10 parts per billion as the maximum allowable level of bromate in bottled water. Some tests results of Wegmans Spring Water showed levels that exceed the maximum; the results range from zero to 25 parts per billion. The spring water was distributed in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia and Maryland. Bromate is a carcinogen and is formed when ozone and bromide ion react.
