AT&T Corp. Class Action Denied

Four Californian women tried to file a nationwide class action lawsuit on behalf of phone company employees who took pregnancy leave before 1979 alleging unfair retirement benefit credits. In 1979 a federal law was instated banning pregnancy related discrimination. The Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco denied the class action noting that the Pregnancy Discrimination Act does not require AT&T Corp. to equalize retirement credits for pre-1979 pregnancy leaves.
