Boston Market

San Diego, CA: Two class action lawsuits were filed against the restaurant chain for allegedly violating California wage and hour laws. The class actions were filed on behalf of 6,400 current and former employees concerning hourly workers and restaurant managers. The hourly class claimed cooks, food prep workers, cleaning staff and counter workers at Boston Market restaurants often worked through meal and rest periods, did off-the-clock work and were not paid overtime. The managerial class claimed general managers were incorrectly classified as exempt from overtime pay. Boston Market will pay a $3.75 million class action settlement.
