A settlement has been reached in the class action lawsuit filed on behalf of inmates. The suit was filed in 2002 and alleged unconstitutional treatment of the inmates. According to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger "The lawsuit said that California should have done a better job with its young offenders, and it was right.... We are on the right track now." (Nov-17-04)

Is this lawsuit still open? I was a "ward" in CYA from 1995 to 2000 (#73235). I saw & experienced abuse at Nelles and N.A. Chaderjian. Still have nightmares from these years.

I was committed to the California youth authority for the amount Six years my CYA Number was 74872 I was at Paso Robles youth Authority along with other institutions there was a lot of abuse physical and verbal among staff I would like to be involved in the lawsuit as well

I was incarcerated in the cya intitution around and i have always tough of the facility that i was in wich was fred c. Nelles to have done a very poor job especially in my parole decision wich led to a deportation main reason i even took the bargain or pleaded guilty was because i had heard they had a good drug program parole was denied mainly i feel theres was a ins hold deportation was only days before my 18 birthday i ended up getting deported and really couldnt follow up with any of my drug rehab treatment mainly because i was in another country i never tought trying to get help for my substance abuse could mess up my life so much wich lead to a whole new listof problems in my life. I honestly feel like i really need help allove again parole dat was2.14.2004 please the case that got me my chargr was assault to a tranportation officer 2002_2004
