San Diego County and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection Class Action Dismissed

County residents tried to file a class action lawsuit on behalf of themselves and other Cedar fire victims alleging negligence. The lawsuit claimed the county and state did not properly manage the brush on the rural federal land where the fire began and they allegedly failed to dispatch emergency workers to the fire quickly enough. A San Diego Superior Court Judge dismissed the class as the fire victims were unable to overcome legal immunities that the law gives to government agencies to protect them from being sued.
