Gables Residential

Current and former tenants filed a class action lawsuit against the apartment management firm for allegedly charging illegal lease termination fees. Gables charged tenants insufficient notice fees, early termination fees and liquidated damage fees. Gables Residential has agreed to provide $3 million for refunds and remove $16 million from credit reports. Over 12,000 tenants may be affected by the settlement and must claim their share before October 11, 2005. (Aug-25-05) [SOUTH FLORIDA BUSINESS JOURNAL]
