Sony Computer Entertainment America

Consumers filed a class action lawsuit against the company claiming some models of PlayStation 2 consoles failed to play or caused damage to CDs or DVDs during playback. The class includes all those who purchased new model PS2 consoles on or after September 18th, 2004 and who have experienced problems including disc read errors within thirteen months of the purchase date. Sony has agreed to compensate consumers by offering a $25 cash check, one free PlayStation 2 game, or a replacement of their console depending on eligibility. (Nov-10-05) [GAMASUTRA]
