Hundreds of people tried to file a class action lawsuit against the manufacturer of the painkiller OxyContin claiming they were victims of accidental addiction. A Staten Island judge recently declined to certify a class action because the cases involve different issues and alleged injuries. (Aug-26-05)

I was prescribed OxyContin 120 mg 4x day (4 40's and 4 80's) along with 20mg of Norco every 4hrs for break through pain (2 10mg pills 6X a day). I had injured my back working two jobs. I was even prescribed OxyContin at the emergency room when I ran out of pills! Then sadly I lost my jobs, then I couldn't afford the $1500+ a month in prescriptions without insurance and my life rapidly spun out of control, several times actually it just took losing everything twice to decide I wouldn't let it happen again BUT l went through complete HELL!! Lost my home, car, ambitions, health, 14yr relationship, my families' respect, FREEDOM, credit, clean record and so, so much more! I was Homeless shooting heroin in public restrooms, stealing from department stores to support my $200 a day habit. I had hit my rock bottom one last time and the only way I can stay clean now today is by being on opiate replacement therapy (methadone). I was on that high dose of Oxy and Norco when I was 23-25. I am 40 now, methadone has saved my life but I have given up so much because I am dependent on opiates, I feel the rest of my life. No children for me, no real true freedom from medicinal chains that will probably forever bind me thanks to these pills I was prescribed. I would of never taken them if someone would of told me I would be violently ill in as little as a few weeks from taking these every day. If they would of told me t can make a saint turn into a sinner I woukd of listened! But No! Just another prescription.

Purdue makes billions after they falsely staturated us in the 90's and early 00's, got caught paid almost nothing in a one time fine and are going to continue to thrive to the shareholders joy.

My minor son has become addicted to injecting oxycontin, is now in detox and will be going into extended rehab. His doctor says without extensive treatment he will die since his usage levels are so high. He has been taken out of regular school, placed in alternative programs, has no social life, possible brain development damage, physical and mental damage, loss time at work, involved in traffic accident, etc. Insurance will not even give an expected quote of coverage yet for treatment services, since they review on a case by case basis.
