Elected tax collectors filed a class action lawsuit against the county for unfairly cutting taxpayers' compensation. The class claimed commissioners capriciously and arbitrarily changed the pay formula from a straight 3 percent of all tax monies collected to a flat $4 per parcel or property. The case was dismissed because tax collectors were aware of the new payment plan while in office, ran for re-election and then filed the lawsuit, a sequence that does not permit them to sue.
