SouthWest Airlines Class Action Lawsuit

- by

San Francisco, CA: Southwest Airlines is facing a potential class action lawsuit over allegations it violated the Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act (FACTA) by printing the expiration date of customers' credit and debit cards on receipts.

In the lawsuit, Miller v. Southwest Airlines Co., Case No. 12-cv-05978, U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, lead plaintiff Robert Miller alleges the airline has been violating FACTA since at least October 2007. Miller first noticed the violation in October 2012 after using a credit/debit card to purchase a ticket from Southwest and saw his card' expiration date on the receipt.

FACTA prohibits merchants from printing more than the last 5 digits of the card number or the expiration date on any electronically printed sales receipts. Violating FACTA carries a penalty of between $100 and $1,000 per violation.

The Southwest Airlines FACTA class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of all US persons who, within the past five years, were provided an electronically printed receipt at the point of sale or transaction with Southwest Airlines on which the expiration date of their credit or debit card was printed.

I have been a rapid rewards customer With SouthWest for over 25 years and they deleted 60,000 Rapid Rewards RR# 50401050 Early last month (April) without any warning or notice and have refused to reinstate my 50401050. That is a terrible company!!!!

This is the worst airline ever!!!! My family and I recently used south west. We were a company of 6. I asked before we boarded the plan to please place my children together. We were asked to leave the plane and to board another flight the next day. I was horrified, all of our lug gages were on board . A Police officer escorted us out of the airline. My children were demoralized. I don't wish this treatment on my worst enemy. I feel that our society has become so dehumanized . I plan on filling a lawsuit and informing other families that south west airline is not a family friendly air line. I was in tears when I saw how United airline handle the Medical Doctor, on board. My husband is also a Medical Doctor our treatment on south west airline was horrific.
